Hot Topic #129:

No matter where you get your weather report from, the scientists at the National Weather Service made it possible. They collect data from all over the world and use their expertise to sort and share it with the people who give you your forecast.
Do you check the weather report before you get dressed to go outside?
The National Weather Service had big staffing cuts earlier this year, which meant the agency didn't have the data to prepare for climate disasters over the summer (like the big flood in Texas).

Fortunately, Democrats and Republicans are working together to reverse those cuts and rehire those positions, so we can all be more prepared.
Have you ever lived through a big climate disaster?

Thank you for sharing.

Having a fully staffed National Weather Service means our weather reports come from better, more reliable data. This keeps us all safer.
