Bonus Hot Topic:

Americans across the country are reeling after the latest act of political violence last week, the assassination of controversial conservative activist Charlie Kirk. In the last 10 years, increasing political violence targeting elected officials, candidates, public figures and their families from across the political spectrum has Americans from all walks of life feeling anxious and afraid.
How are you feeling after last week’s tragic news?
This act of political violence is linked to the constant threat of gun violence that all Americans–especially parents–know too well. In times like this, instead of focusing on blame, we need to come together around our shared belief in an America where we can have different perspectives and still honor each other’s humanity.
What do you think would help us end political violence?

  • Increased gun control
  • If the two parties in Congress actually worked together
  • More focus and resources for mental health care
  • Changes to social media algorithms that make us more polarized
  • More opportunities for people to connect across differences

Thank you for sharing.

No matter your political persuasion, this kind of violence hurts all of us. In dark times, it’s even more important that we show up for each other with curiosity instead of judgment and compassion instead of blame.
