Hot Topic #132:

Many companies take advantage of the spirit of the New Year with ads that make us feel like we need to change, so we will buy their product. January brings ads for gym memberships, meal prepping services, unregulated supplements, anti-aging procedures, and prescription weight-loss drugs.
Have you heard about GLP-1 prescription weight-loss drugs? (Wegovy, Ozempic, Zepbound, etc.)
Women are often pressured to lose weight even when it's not right for their health. Women are five times more likely to be diagnosed with an eating disorder than men. And prescription drug companies are for-profit in our country, so it's hard to trust that they care more about your well-being than making a sale.
At the same time, some women are finding that these drugs really help with conditions like diabetes, diet and exercise-resistant obesity, and PCOS.
Have you ever felt pressured to change your body?
